Simple and fast: Take ordinary weiners and slice them thinly. Pop them in the microwave until they are browned and dry. I forget how long as I usually just watch until they are done. The coking seems to take the grease out of them. They are like hot dog chips. A little more work: I also boil beef liver in salted water until it is just cooked and then I sprinkle a little garlic salt on it and put it in a slow oven(300) for 1/2 -3/4 hr. I have a convection oven which does this faster. The resulting liver is dry and not sticky. The dogs love it.
Over the edge:( I hardly ever bake cookies for my husband but for the dogs.....??) Liver Biscuits.(needs a food processer) 1 lb liver (mine like chicken livers) lightly cooked 1 carrot 1/4 c parsley flakes 2 tblsps basil flakes 1 egg 1/2 tsp salt 1-2 garlic cloves 3 tblsp. oil 1 c. water or stock 1/2 veg broth cube (like oxo) opt. If I use this I omit salt 1/2 c. corn meal (optional) 3-4 c. whole wheat flour Puree the liver, vegs, oil, eggs, etc. until smooth. Add water and flour( app 2-3 c) alternately until soft dough is formed. Put the whole sticky mess in a bowl and mix and need in enough more flour to make a cookie dough consistency. Roll out on a floured board. I cut mine into litle squares or rectangles. Bake on an ungreased cookies sheet app 20-25 min. They don't spread so they can be packed fairly close. These are rather soft and chewy when first made and can easily be broken into little pieces. (They can also be left in a low oven to harden or left out to harden.) These actually smell good cooking! They are all cavalier approved.
