I have the round saucer and it does work well. However, I prefer using a long china dish that possibly was meant to be an asparagus dish. It feeds 4 puppies nicely and I am sure would do fine even for 5 or 6. No one has ever walked in it and they seem to like eating out of the same space. Phyllis
