Hi, everyone!

Well, *my* Mother's Day was great! (and Happy Mother's Day to mothers
everywhere) My present was the weekend OFF!! I went to Klamath Falls, Oregon
to the Klamath Dog Fanciers two shows. Tilly was WB (1 point, hey, we'll
take it!) & BOS on Saturday, and WB (another 1 pointer, they do add up!), BW
& BOB on Sunday! And that puts her at 9 points, Yippee. Congratulations to
Linda Kornhi for the WD, BW, & BOB on Saturday, and WD & BOS on Sunday with
her Blenheim boy (from the 12-18 class!).

But aside from it being Mom's weekend off-duty, a friend went to the show
with me: April has a 9 month old Viszla boy, and this was a total immersion,
trial-by-fire plunge into the show world with-out a whole lot of training
(family stuff came up, missed the handling class we'd wanted to go) for
either of them. The Saturday morning class was ... well... a bit of a
sensory overload for "Kobo", and he was really testing April's patience and
arm strength, but by the fun match that evening he had settled down. By this
morning he was doing really well, and so was April! What was really nice was
how many people offered moral support or gentle suggestions to her about a
handling trick or hint. (what a great group of people the dog show fancy
is)

One thing, however, that April and I noticed (at the fairgrounds and the
hotel parking lot/grass) was how many people just LEFT their dogs' poop...
We were appalled by the number of messes that were so rudely left. I wish
those particular exhibitors realized how much their selfishness endangered
the rest of us - we're going to lose show sights, and especially
hotels/motels that are willing to take dogs overnight. Or those places will
end up charging extra to pay for the damage or cleanup. And it's going to
cost the rest of us the same for that extra service regardless of how neat
and conscientious the we are! I know, I know, I'm opening up a can of worms
that has been opened before.... sorry. It just galled me!

Other fun news is that my *NEW CAR* was just WUNNERFUL for its maiden voyage
to a dog show! Hubby bought - for my birthday and 25th anniversary present -
a gorgeous 'jewel red' Oldsmo-bubble Bravada. It has the world's most
comfortable seats; an imperative feature for someone such as myself with
spine problems/injury. I could probably live 24x7 in those seats!! No, I'm
not excited about it, why do you ask?

I am happy to report that my little singleton boy seems to be doing really
well. My turning-17-tomorrow son faithfully bottle-fed the puppy in my
absence, whew, and the little furry guy GREW while I was gone! I am looking
to anyone that might have suggestions about raising a singleton puppy (very
attentive mum and 'auntie', but that's not the same as siblings), AND I'm
wondering if anyone has any striking names in the vein of "ONE". Maybe a
smart Latin phrase or something?? Thanks in advance!

And on to my last-but-not-least-comment. A very heartfelt thank you to
everyone that wrote to me after my post about the "breeding for fun and
profit" letter describing the devastation of losing 5 out of 6 in my litter.
I forwarded the individual letters to the new email client, but for some
reason the *addresses* did not forward with them - so I can't write back to
each person that was kind enough to offer cyber hugs, suggestions, or warm
wishes about my losses. It truly helps to have cyber-friends that can offer
such comfort during a stressful time. Thanks so very much to everyone that
wrote to me!

All for now, cheers!

Sandra
