OK, changing water is one thing I haven't tried. Like I said, I will try anything! I have heard that water can affect coat color. The red in my Blenheim is very dark and continues to darken in spite of nose. His nose is much darker this year. It went off during our gloomiest winter on record. I still think it is genetics:(
The plastic dish phenomenon is not an Old Wives Tale. The chemical benzylhydroquinone in some plastics is absorbed through the skin and inhibits the production of melanin. Removing plastic is worth a try. Remember to consider where you store food etc. i.e. is it in Rubbermaid?
