I'm not sure that the AKC will allow us to add our kennel names to imported
dogs... it used to be allowed if your kennel name was registered, as Susan
said. I remember years ago, Marjorie Butcher, a Pyrenees and Pembroke Corgi
breeder, sent in a registration for an imported bitch and did not want her
kennel name added, as the name would then have been miles long. Well, AKC just
assumed she forgot...and the papers came back: Harham's Golden Honeypot of Wey
and Cote de Neige.
Marjorie wouldn't show the bitch, said the name was too long to put on
the entry blank...and she sold most of the offspring as pets...but I had one
daughter of that bitch's, and I showed her a time or two...it WAS annoying to
have to write that whole name out, so I, too, stopped showing my girl!
I don't understand the total fascination with adding one's kennel name at
any cost...it makes names unwieldy.....I did add my name to two of my imported
Cavaliers, and not to the other two.
