Hi, Chere,
Well, I try not to let my Cavaliers do certain things unsupervised, so
not sure I'd leave out a wading pool unless I was there. However, I
think swimming shouldn't hurt a healthy Cavalier. Prolonged immersion
is another story.....a dash in and out of an icy cold puddle probably
won't hurt, but immersion in even seventy-five to eighty degree water
for hours might cause hypothermia.

Do check out this link I posted earlier:
http://www.hypothermia.org/animalhypo.htm

This isn't unique to Cavaliers, or even to dogs; people have to be
careful of hypothermia as well.

My heart goes out to Gayle..... really no way to know what happened in
that particular instance at all; could have been anything really.

What is so sad to me is that Gayle was being a wonderful companian to
her dog; unlike some folks who want a companian dog and don't believe
that in turn they must BE a companian TO their dog. It just is not
fair.

All effected by this tragedy are in our prayers.

Best,

Suze
