As I am not an expert on the subject, I can only speak from my experience. My dog was completely wet to the skin. She was then taken on a walk/hike off lead in 95-105 degree heat, that lasted at least an hour. She would have been hot but fine if she had not been wet. This is not something we would normally do but thought because the dog was wet, she would be comfortable. I do a lot with my dogs in many different types of weather, every dog and situation is different. Personally, now I won't bathe a dog and take them out while wet to exercise in extreme heat. If your dog is literally dripping and runs agility and cools off in a few minutes I see quite a different situation here. Use a little common sense and learn from your mistakes. I let my newly bathed furry dogs dry in full sun in 100 degree heat with no problem but there is a big difference. There is nothing wrong with a dog being damp or wet or swimming. I don't know how else to explain this. Maybe it was this dog, though she lived all her healthy 15 years in hot climates. For me, it is an avoidable situation, so I won't take the chance.
