Well group, I am signing off for a few days. My husband has gone to an evacuation meeting at the local high school but we are already packed to flee down the mountain into Colorado Springs. We've been watching this Hayman fire and other Colorado fires for about three weeks now and it's getting a bit to close for comfort--about four miles away. For several days planes have been dumping slurry on the fire on the mountain behind us. I hope those guys know what heros they are. At the grocery store this past week you see no one but rescue people and fire fighters, and people in our little community of Woodland Park have been making cakes for the fighters. My daughter says, "Sure Mom cake for carbs."
The dog crates are packed and we each have our suitcases and treasures ( funny the things you think are valuable when it comes down to choosing which of your beloved items you can't live without). Family photos are at the top and my favorite dog books. But so is my rug that I am hooking for a Christmas present. Besides it will be something to do while we are visiting friends. You'all take care, hug your dogs, and I will let you know when we get back. May be a few days.
