Debbie & others, I personally spoke up at the general meeting as a marketing and public relations professional(breeding is my hobby) and voiced this was indeed a crisis situation that should be addressed immediately. Bob acting alone has put the mission of the club and it's reputation at great harm plus our beloved breed. I even gave an example of what the contents of the letter should be for each segment of the market affected by Bob's lack of good judgement to support an organization with our endorsement and financial donations that would have great negative impact on hobby breeders regardless of the number of litters produced a year. He did however, resign as ethics chairman prior to his departure(vacation, unavailable for explanation) and the board would address this issue in the next bulletin once they had heard Bob's point of view. I suggested it could not wait that long and we could do telemarketing, internet and letter within 3 days of our return from the National show. There was opposition to telemarketing, so postcard and web site was agreed upon. Betty Deemer, the President of the club did read that night at the banquet comments that were going to be mailed to members of the club that I helped draft earlier in the day. I was asked to help by other board members in drafting a letter to DDL and the government official. If nothing has happened because I dropped the ball in addressing the other two letters, then I am sorry and will follow up with action this weekend. I assumed the postcard message that I help draft was enough to address all parties concerned and that the board would move ahead. In all fairness, unless you have a public relations professional that knows crisis management, guiding a organization during such unfortunate circumstances, you can't expect the same level of professional understanding of the issues or timely, proactive results, that a public relations professional can bring to the table. I have been on my own deadlines publishing a art magazine for Beaufort County and frankly thought it was already decided on what the next phase should be. I will see what I can do to be of service.
