<<<<<<<<Now that you have actually posted the numbers I can get an idea of your success rate, about one Cavalier out of every other litter or so. I do not have enough experience to know how great or not so great of an accomplishment that is. But I can weigh it against others success percentages. >>>>>>>>>
This actually is almost impossible as the assessment of puppies is such a subjective thing . Given any litter different breeders will have different ideas about how many have potential. Indeed we have all heard about whole litters that have been sold as show quality and which are all shown. Even some litters which all "finish". It depends very much on what our personal choices are - I may not consider any pups in a litter good enough, when the person standing next to me looking at them might say they think one or two are good enough. And in this breed many perfectly lovely dogs are eliminated from a show career because of markings - something over which we have very little control. Of course champions can be of varying quality - so I agree its not the number alone that is important but that, of those champions, a significant number should have had success at the highest level of breed and specialty competition, winning Specialty BIS under respected breed specialists and being able to hold their own in competition with the very best that other breeds can produce. ...... and, more importantly that they should have proved that they can make a positive contribution to the breed as a stud dog or brood bitch. I would think that any person with a genuine interest in the breed would be taking these factors into consideration. Jeanie PS its actually 84 now.............. ========================================================= "Magic Commands": to stop receiving mail for awhile, click here and send the email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20NOMAIL to start it up gain click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?body=SET%20CKCS-L%20MAIL E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] for assistance.
