I forgot to add this to my last post. The bleeding heart or Dicentra spp.: all parts are poisionous. This species is referring to the perennial bleeding heart which blooms only in the spring & requires cool temps. Down here in the deep south, this doesn't grow well. We have a vine that is very old-fashioned with white heart-shaped blooms & red centers with dark green leaves. It blooms all summer long, but I don't know the botanical name for it. It is sold in the local garden centers & is also referred to as "bleeding heart vine". To my knowledge, this bleeding heart vine is not poisionous, only the perennial plant. The most common garden plant that I definitely would not plant in my yard is the foxglove plant. It is the source of digitalis, or the main ingredient in heart medication. Very, very small amount can stop the heart!
