Oh my Roseanne!

How I can relate to this message. If my husband did not have his beloved
Precious and Mutley, I wonder if I would still have him here with me. When
he was very ill and out of work, they kept him alive. They gave him a
reason to get up and get out. If they saved his life why would I want to
minimize that. For their love and devotion, our home is certainly shared
with them. When we say our home, they are included in that "our". Don't
like dogs? Can't stand the hair? Don't come!

We have "friends" that hate dogs. She freaks at dog hair and hates to ride
in our car. Needless to say she never comes to our home. Too bad, it's
their loss but their choice as was ours to have dogs. When our Jezebel
died last week, Cass Liberman shared a Native American legend with me that
I will pass on here:

The Lenape Indians believed that it was up to your dog(s) whether or not
you got into Heaven. After you died, you had to climb a sort of ladder,
and at the 12th level there was a Bridge... and waiting for you would be
the dog or dogs you had had during your lifetime. Depending on how you had
treated your animals, you either did or didn't get into Heaven.

I wonder if this is how we came to believe in the Rainbow Bridge?

I hope that our animal friends judge us well. I know they will not judge us
on how clean our home was. There will be a lot of pets at that 12th step.
While I have fits when I wear black and have not even left the house and am
covered in fur, I would never trade any of them for a clean house. Well,
maybe a little bit cleaner, maybe less hair, maybe a shiny floor on
occasion but a house without a dog, for us, is not a home. We have wrecked
more vaccuums, gone through more mops, more cleaning supplies, more
furntiure, more belly bands, tried more products to get hair off clothes
and yet the dogs keep coming and lately, sadly, going.

This was a beautifully, well written vignette. How right on the author
was. Once again Roseanne, you have sent a tear jerker!
