Susan what version are you using? If you cycle through the Tip Of the Day under the help menu - one of them addresses this issue. That used to be a problem in older versions. My version is 4.6.15 but a brand new version - V 5 is soon to be released.
They have already released the all new PEDX Pedigree Explorer which is the same as Breedmate Pro but has a pedigree chart maker (up to 40 gens!) as an added feature. It can be purchased by any current owner of BM. And yes, the Update to the online database will be soon and will contain over 33,500 cavaliers! It will be made available for download after that.
