If what I have read/heard is true then I really can not agree with the current methods Kelly is using to obtain and breed Cavaliers nor the reasons behind her doing so (Money). I do believe though that there are a lot of "reputable" breeders who also are driven by the money factor and if everyone who was dishonest in representing themselves was expelled from the dog game nobody would ever get a major.
Before you all tag me as being supportive of Kelly let me state very clearly that in my opinion she appears to be involved in milling and I find that deplorable and unacceptable. I do not support her with her current practices at all. I do though, like some others, view this as perhaps a lost opportunity. Once Kelly clicks off the set (list) the opportunity to get her to listen to any educating information is lost. Your chance of inciting even the smallest of improvements in her practices is now ZERO. I do believe that with people who breed in this manner the success rate of educating them enough to get them to change their ways will be small. Partially because most really don't view the Cavalier as we do but rather closer to the perspective of livestock. More often because to properly run a breeding program takes more time and money then they are willing to invest. This is especially true if they are motivated by profit. You do have to question if she totally didn't care at all about the Cavaliers why did she join this list and why post an introduction? Could it be her practices were as much driven by lack of knowledge as they are financially motivated? Yes I know that more likely we would not change the habits of those who have set up to breed in this manner but I like some chance to provide some influence much better then no chance to provide anything that may improve their behaviours. A spinoff of an old saying might go like this... I keep my friends close and those who disagree with me even closer. I hope Kelly is still listening with an open mind enough to read the types of things that reputable breeders encourage in regards to keeping and breeding Cavaliers as well as testing.
