Joy, I've certainly *been* you in the past, because my animals always come first for me. It's often difficult to find somebody (whether you're a man or woman) who shares your love for your animals. My first husband (now deceased) was wonderful; he doted on me and the dogs, cats, horses, goats, birds...well, you get the picture. The second husband pretended to be an animal lover (he HAD a dog when we met!) but showed his true colors when he took my wonderful rottie/shepherd cross dog (our son's beloved pet and protector) and tied him up outside the animal shelter for some small household misdemeanor. I had no time for the man after that and succeeded in getting rid of him within two years.
My current love and I are not married (I might; I might not) but have been together four years and he loves the animals. He's the soft touch between the two of us and the dogs and cats adore him. I made sure this one understood early on that animals are what I'm all about; they are the passion of my life.
