Lynn and Terrie I can't help butting in here VBG My dogs live in what some people would term a basement or cellar in the UK - in fact I call it that myself at times. However it is neither cool dark or dank, from the front of the house cannot be seem as it is underground level but at the back is open to the fresh air and garden and of course the river which periodically I have to wade into to rescue a silly dog that has fallen off the wall. Quite a few houses that are built on the side of a hill have the same layout as mine. This one though 150 years ago housed the barrels of ale I believe - nearest it gets to that these days is the occasional bottle home made wine!
