Kelly,

And I hope Kim will indulge me here....<VBG> Yes, you were attacked on the
list and I will freely and willingly admit to also having my hackles raised!
Having your dogs not in the house wasn't a problem for me...I'd love to have
a separate dog room!
What bothered me, and I think bothered a lot of people, is the overwhelmingly
commerical aspect of your business. That's a lot of breeding with a lot of
breeds!!

Most of us on this list are dedicated to the breed. We've watched other
breeds become the "hot dogs of the moment" and the resulting indescriminate,
thoughtless and rampant overbreeding ruined breeds. (Michael Allen
mentioned something similar in one of her posts regarding her beloved
Cockers. I can certainly speak to it with my 20 some odd years devotion to
the Jack Russell Terrier.) So when we saw someone breeding not just
Cavaliers, but 6 or 7 other breeds as well, that caused great concern. That
says, to most, that you are operating a commercial kennel solely for profit,
NOT a kennel dedicated to the preservation of the breed that we have come to
know and love. Perhaps I am totally and completely wrong, but I cannot see
how anyone can put careful thought and study and effort into carefully
breeding that many breeds. There just aren't that many hours in a day! :o)

Financially, how can one afford to test for even the major problems in each
of those breeds? Hearts and eyes (at least) in Cavaliers, eyes and hips in
Pugs, eyes and thyroid in Springers (not to mention Rage Syndrome that can't
be tested for), hips and hearts in Boxers (where Boxer Cardiomyopathy and
aortic steosis are as rampant as MVD is in Cavaliers) not to mention a host
of cancers, portosytemic liver shunt problems, hypothyroidism and luxating
patellas in Yorkies, epilepsy, glaucoma, and hips in Brittany Spaniels,
Cushing's disease, Mycobacterium Acium Infection, hepatic liver shunts,
Urinary Stone Disease, in Schauzers, etc.

I'm truly not "Kelly bashing" here...I am sincerely asking how you can breed
that many different breeds and feel that you are doing each individual breed
proud?
