I must not have analined leather furniture(is expense Italian) because mine do have scratches and is only 6 years old. Between the cat running and pushing off with hind legs (that still have claws) to jump on the buffet to paw at the dogs... it may be all the cat's scratches but I do have them on the sofa and chair seats and arm cushions. And of course, they show up really well because my color is pale yellow. I bought the saleswoman's line about "animals don't like leather":) My cavaliers do like to dig before settling into a position of rest and hide behind the back cushion to create a den. My furniture has also cracked where the greatest use has been over the years. All my antique furniture has corners chewed, walls chewed to drywall, books have bindings missing or chewed, etc. There is no doubt my dogs live in the house uncrated unless I am leaving for a period of time. It is the price I am willing to pay to have them with me during the day and I still love my leather furniture; it is so comfortable.
