Has anyone read lately the breed standard as dictated by the Continental
Kennel Club for the cavalier?  It's ridiculous!!!!!  We are becoming a
nation of having two types because the average new person will believe this
crap!!!!!!!  :-(

CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL*
ORIGIN: Great Britain
HEIGHT: 12-13 in.
GROUP: Gun Dog
WEIGHT: 9-20 lbs.
COAT: Long & Silky with Feathering; No Curl
COLOR: Black & Tan, Ruby Red, Red & White and tricolor
STANDARD: Head: Muzzle is cone shaped, with a flat skull. Eyes: Large, round
and dark in color. Ears: Set high and long. Nose: Black and self-colored
according to coat. Bite: Scissor or level. Neck: Medium length and well
arched. Chest: Moderate in depth, with well-sprung ribs. Body: Level back
and straight loin and croup. Legs: Forelegs are well boned and
perpendicular. Hind legs are strong with hocks slightly bent. Feet: Compact,
with hard pad and close toes. Tail: Docked or left at natural length.
Movement: Smooth flowing gait, with graceful movements. Temperament: Alert,
and a good family pet.
*There are 3 varieties (distinguished by color) of the Cavalier King Charles
spaniel: Ruby (red), Blenheim (red & white), & the Prince Charles
(tricolor).
