Hello, I dislike seeing any dog kept this way. It's a sad and lonely life.
However, I believe those dog houses (are they called igloo?) are well insulated and cool (er) in the summer and warm (er) in the winter. Could you, possibly, speak with the owners..ask about the dog, where they got it, how old etc ..just to get a feel for the people and then telling them a bit about the breed. How much they breed loves to work, needs something to do, is a Scottish breed etc. Jo Ann Hi everyone, I am hoping to get some ideas about what I can do about a dog in an unfortunate situation. It is not a Cavalier, but don't stop, it is a dog, a living creature. Anyway, he is a beautiful Border Collie that lives down my street. He is in an 8x10 kennel with a concrete floor. His only shelter is a plastic dog house. He has no shade, none at all. I have called the sheriff-they have jurisdiction in the county and they told me the dog's needs were met. The plastic dog house was good enough for shade. I am sure it is at least 10-20 degrees warmer inside the dog house! Last week we almost broke records at 114 degrees. He is in full sun until at least 5 PM. I see him more miserable each day, pacing and panting. Do any of you have any ideas what can be done. I won't steal him-that has been suggested. He barks, I don't even know if he is friendly.
