This happened to me before - I found out at the end of the visit that they had been to 
a
dog show and the humane society before coming to my house (boy was I mad, as I had told
them not to visit other dogs before coming to see my puppies!)  My dogs were put off 
by the
smell of all those other non-Cavaliers!  Of course I didn't place a puppy with them, 
but
