Hi Listers,
Today I received three unsolicited emails (apparently NOT from the
list), which my Norton Anti-Virus software caught and quarantined (they
contained the Klez virus), and which I then deleted from the system. All
had attachments (remember not to open ANY attachment you're not expecting,
especially from an unknown source). The third email (subject line: "Worm
Klex.E immunity"), offered a "free immunity tool" to defeat the virus. This
one too came with an attachment!!! If any of you receive this or something
comparable, please DON'T OPEN IT. Generally, if an unsolicited email
offers something "free," especially if it claims to be virus-related, at
best you'll get what you paid for (i.e., worthless); at worst, you'll get a
lot more than you bargained for (i.e., a virus, which can be a gawdawful
nightmare to eradicate -- I know this from an experience 2 years ago).
Also, when a virus is known to be making the rounds again, I'd update
anti-virus software every day or two. Since all of us are on email a lot,
just thought I'd send this reminder.
    Alida
