Hi all -- I really need some advice from some of you with more experience in
dealing with importers. I've just discovered that there is a small -- well
still small at any rate-- importer who's bringing Cavalier puppies in from
England for resale here. The worst part is she lives down the road from
me!!!!!
She advertised in the local swap sheet with an ad that basically said
her puppies "were from top English lines--vet checked, heart checked, shots,
wormed, guaranteed, $2,000 and up...You won't find better anywhere."
I called the number to see who she was and what she had. She has
researched Cavaliers for months, is buying puppies from a "wonderful English
family" and flying them over. She currently has 3 that flew in by Delta but
were lost in Atlanta along with their registration papers but are gorgeous
dogs from top bloodlines...but she can't remember what the lineage was other
than Homerbent [sic] and something beginning with "S." The new puppies are
going to come into Toronto and they're going to pick them up at the airport.
She wants to breed a male to female and then maybe show the puppies. She can
email me photos or I could go see the puppies....
Okay, all -- what do I do. How do I approach her so that she maybe
learns about Cavaliers...or do I start buying ads in the swap sheet myself???

My sense is that she's not legit, that this is a money-making scheme
and she's obviously not a breeder or knows much about dogs. I want to hope
that maybe she's really getting puppies from a good English breeder,
but....... And, I guess if she's on this list she'll let me know really soon!
I want to do what's right, but need proper guidance. Help!
