Hi Jeanie, Thanks for your post. I know what's it's like being busy and all that - I seem to be running around like a headless chicken at the moment. You certainly like to travel!! Are you EVER at home??
Anyway, in answer to your question. If you go to the web site at www.cd-books4u.com you will find an order form. It would probably be best if I sent them to Stephanie's then you would be sure to receive them. One thing to keep in mind. Originally, we developed a PC/Mac compatible version. However, because of the anti-piracy software that is incorporated, we are currently only producing the CD's for PC. We hope to add the Mac version again later. >>you also wrote: > Also I want to talk to you about the back issues of the NSW Yearbook etc. > How much would it cost to put them on CD and how would we go about it. If I > have some information I can go to the Club and suggest it. > Or maybe as there would probably be limited interest overseas, we could do > it ourselves here????>> This subject is a little more complicated to deal with.............. Firstly, you could deal with producing a cd yourselves but you will have to make a considerable investment in several software programmes. Also, whoever is going to do the CD will obviously have to learn about the additional software. The major and by far the most expensive issue I had to consider was whether I wanted my CD's to be freely copied and passed on to everyone or not. I personally decided that potentially, I could lose a lot of business from illegal copying and as this is hopefully going to be a business that extends into all kinds of markets, have chosen to invest in making the books so that they cannot be passed on. Secondly, my normal arrangement with other clubs/individuals who grant me permission to produce their books on cd, is based on a long terms sales projection which means I deduct a production cost from each CD then we split the profit 50/50. However, if you think the sale of your books would be relatively small, you could opt for me to do a "master", pay for it and then you could go in one of two directions. To give you an idea, the cost of a master would run at around 6 per page. A. Be responsible for running off further copies and distribute them yourselves. Remember though, if the club were running them off and distributing them, there would be NO copy protection on them as this has to be done with each CD as it's produced. B. I produce and distribute subsequent copies with the protection on them. Each CD would cost a further 2.50 to produce. I suppose what you have to work out is how many you would have to sell and at what price, before you go into profit. Hope this is not too confusing!! However, if there is anything you want to ask or any other suggestions you would like to make - please feel free. Look forward to hearing from you.
