I have found throughout my life that the more understanding one has of a subject, the more one understands the complexity of it and the more ones sees all the grays between the black and white (as well as those yellows, pinks, greens and purples!). The more the focus is on black and white, the less understanding there is of an issue. This is why young children see the world in black and white. They have little experience and understanding so everything is perceived as an either or an or. But as they gain experience and understanding of a particular subject, most begin to see the grays as well. Not all are able to. My own son who is mildly autistic will never see the grays--he is extremely literal and sees only in black and white. The number of CKCSC breeders who truly believe CKCSC must do the above is very, very small indeed. Many of these breeders DO fully test and more and more are doing so every year. Since these particular breeders have *nothing to hide*--there simply MUST be sound reasoning behind their beliefs. Some of these reasons have been stated by the breeders, but not addressed by the pet members. I can't help but wonder why. So I am asking now-- DO YOU pet members truly believe that it is possible to breed to improve specific things (such as hips, eyes, hearts and patellas) without seeing an increase in other defects--such an immune disorders? And if you do, please state the specific research you've found that says so. Or is it that you prefer to see better hips, eyes, hearts and patellas but don't care if the average dog gets cancer or an overwhelming infection at age 6 and dies?
