This is my understanding of Mr. Russell's lawsuit. Mr. Russell sent two different versions of a letter to approx 250 CKCSC, USA members, including Board members, accusing the BOD of breaking promises to the membership and said the BOD was about to hold a secret meeting in order to push the AKC issue through without a membership vote. The BOD, not having access to Mr. Russell's mailing list, thus not knowing who had and hadn't received his letter, sent a letter to each member of the Club, in response. Mr. Russell stated his intent to sue and offered an "out" to those Board Members who felt they had signed the Board's response letter under duress. Hence, Kathy Conrad, who, I believe helped draft the Board's response letter, is exempt from the suit. Mr. Russell is suing each of the remaining 12 members individually for each letter sent by the BOD to the membership to the tune of $15,000 per letter. As there are over 2000 members of the CKCSC, USA, I will use that figure as a "low-ball" number and for ease of mathmatics.
2000 letters X 15,000 = $30 Million per Board member $30 Million X 12 Board members = $3 Billion 600 million dollars and that's with the number of letters sent out lowballed. 12 volunteers of the CKCSC, USA, all good and decent people, who are involved in this Club for no other reason than a sincere love of and commitment to Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, are being sued for millions of dollars each beacause they dared to respond to a letter you sent. And all for the good of the Club and the Cavaliers. What points, other than lowballing the number of letters did I get wrong Mr. Russell??
