Sharon,

Your plan sounds perfect. When Dodger first arrived
he spent the nights in a small wire crate. When we
were away during the day he had his VariKennel
(medium size, I think-he still uses it). I am so
pleased that he became used to the crate because now
he travels with me alot on business, he is
comfortable in his crate and knows the routine- he
goes in his crate, I leave- I come back and he can
get out! Housekeeping staff have told me that, even
when they come in the room to clean, he doesn't make
a sound, just watches out of his little window! I
think the solid sides give him a sense of safety. I
tried, early on, to leave him loose in the room and
the minute I closed the door he began to bark. So
the kennel routine is all we use and, of course,
hotels love it and usually require it.

Linda
