I apologize if this is a duplicate, but it doesn't appear my first posting went through.
I have used Oxi-Clean in my Hoover Steam Cleaner (love that machine!). I have a little bitch who was getting ready to go into heat and decided to pee a large puddle under my living room table - a VERY STINKY puddle. I blotted it up, and then dumped a solution of Oxi-clean on the puddle and then blotted that up. The puddle still smelled strongly, so I decided I might as well clean the livingroom carpet anyway, so I got out my cleaner and used Oxi-clean in it as I had heard so many nice things about it. It cleaned okay and didn't seem to leave any residue. BUT--the puddled area still smelled strongly of urine. So, I sprayed the area well with a strong solution of Simple Green, scrubbed it with a wet washcloth, and then put a diluted solution of Simple Green in my steam cleaner and went over the "puddled area" several times with that. The smell was gone. So, for my money, Simple Green rules - as least as far as carpet cleaning. It's also non-toxic and has a fresh, Sassafras smell.
