I just tested the latest CVS version on two linux systems (Woody
(vanilla 2.2 kernel) and Red Hat (2.4.23 but with grsecurity and not
openwall) and can't reproduce that strange error. If it is possible to
create a temporary user account I can investigate the problem directly
on your machine.
