Hi all,
So I found a plug-in for XMail that hopefully should be compatible with clamav. But I need to know a few things to complete the setup.

a) I'm having trouble figuring out what each command is used for. I asssume it's somewhat similar to spamassassin, where there is a daemon running and then a client binary for processing individual files. So I would have clamd running and then pass messages into clamscan (or clamdscan)?

b) Whatever command I run, I'd need to know whether it has return codes, especially in the case of processing errors, as well as whether there is a specific "Virus Found" or "File Clean" code. These would be really helpful in determining how to proceed after the file scan.

c) I would be processing email messages as they're being received by the system. On my system, as far as I can tell, there are three file formats for email messages. First is whatever format the message is in when it is first received by the system (I assume this is just a standard Mail format). Then it is converted to a spool file, which has a few custom headers, and then it ends up as a Maildir file. I know that clamav is set to process mbox files. Will I have to convert the Mail format files into mbox format before they can be processed?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Toby
