Hi Tomasz,
Graham's observation is correct. I did a checkout and compiled (successfully).
I deleted all the binaries (clamd, clamdscan, clamdscan, freshclam, sigtool)
and installed. Now what do I get?
430$ freshclam --version

But something positive also did happen:
