According to the Declude mailing list, there are many people using clamd
on Windows. The performance is much better. I don't have the email volume
at the moment to warrant the additional complexity so I just use clamscan.

I have experimented with clamd / clamdscan and they worked for me. Someone
on that list posted a monitor for clamd I assume because it was dying
occasionally for them. I never had that problem in my limited testing.

I don't update the snapshot I'm using every day but I try and keep
reasonably
current. I'm running freshclam every 4 hours.

Declude Virus Pro can run multiple virus scanners. I added ClamAV to my
list because of its reputation of rapid database updates for new viruses.
It has been first to catch a couple of times since I started using it.

There are some issues around getting Declude to parse the output of ClamAV
and capture the virus name, but I've fixed those first with a perl program I
wrote and more recently with a compiled program written by the same person
that wrote the monitor.

If you'd like more input, I'm sure you would get plenty if you asked on the
Declude Virus mailing list.

Regards,

Brad Morgan
