Using the latest snapshot and database (ClamAV devel-20040902/477/01

clamdwatch.pl complains
"Clamd didn't find the EICAR pattern. Your virus database(s) could be borked!".

A more elegant solution is to modify the script to save the EICAR signature in a temporary file and then pass it to clamd. It will also prevent ClamAV from detecting a virus in clamdwatch.pl

Err ... yeah :)

However, what I really wanted was to not use any file, but to use STREAM-like method.
I got discouraged, however, by the fact that :
- STREAM returns a new port number (can't use the same connection. If it says port most likely it won't work on sockets).
- The protocol is obsolete and there will be a new version soon

This is from html docs in latest devel snapshot. If there's a new command (something that only requires one connection, like the HTTP or SMTP protocol)
that would be great.

Since I can't find it, I use the method with quick-and-minimum change -- changing the signature --, thus
leaving the decision of choosing the elegant-and-suited-for-everybody change to Mike Cathey.
Hope he'll come up with a solution soon.

Fajar
