Does anyone know if ClamAV has been packaged with any of the

I've got a Windows PC that keeps rebooting over and over and
we suspect a
virus. It would be nice to have a Live Linux CD with ClamAV that can
freshclam somehow and then scan the PC harddrive.

Hmmm... if it's an IDE hard drive you could take it out, and put it in another machine as a secondary drive. Then you can scan it without booting to it.

This process is not recommended, I suggest you build a small bootable CD that has the clamav package installed, removing hardware should always be a last resort if all else fails.

I'd look at using the open source Darwin (FreeBSD) project that boots to a terminal window and uses a 32mb ramdisk to write log, pid and socket files as a solution to an emergency boot cd with AV capabilities.

Make the project on a small partition, set the size of the ramdisk and adjust the configs to use the ramdisk for any file writing that needs to be done, when all is working like you want, ISO the partition and then burn it to a CD.

I'm sure you can use this project since it's not platform dependent or you can roll your own from your preferred OS or use something like "INSERT".

You have many options, select the one that your comfortable with, document your build process and make it available to those on your platform as a possible solution, providing a binary/ISO solution is nice but doesn't always work on the intended system so providing build instructions is the best solution for someone else.
