I've had the exact same problems with ZIP MODULE FAILURE ERRORS appearing
intermittently throughout my clamd.log. The problems also began around that
same timeframe (approx. 2 weeks ago). I haven't done too much in terms of
debugging, etc. All I know is that the ZIP MODULE errors are becoming more
numerous.

The error looks like the following in the clamd.log:

.......Zip module failure ERROR
Mon Nov 22 13:59:52 2004 -> Client disconnected

I'm running ClamAV 0.80 as well, and have tried to resolve the issue by
installing a newer version of Archive::Zip, but that did not help.

If anyone has any resolution to this, I'd appreciate any info. Thanks.

Hello All,

I'm using clamav for a while and all runs like a charm except last two
weeks when I received zip attachment wich lead to error : Zip module
failure (exit code 2)
I'm using clamd (0.80rc5)

The first zipped file contains files zipped with 'shrink' method (wich
is also not supported by unzip 5.50 but supported by unzip 5.51).
The second zipped file can be unzipped without error/warning with unzip.

If I use clamscan instead of clamdscan I've got the same messages but
exit code 0.

As a workaround I've tried to use clamscan with the --unzip option but
when I do this, i've got the following error :

# clamscan --debug --unzip=/bin/unzip --leave-temps ../1099997121359
.....
LibClamAV debug: Adding part to main message
LibClamAV debug: Mixed message part 1 is of type 1
LibClamAV debug: messageToFileblob
LibClamAV debug: blobSetFilename: citactNL.zip
LibClamAV debug: Saving attachment as
/tmp/clamav-701c6cc97ee99ff4/citactNL.zipH06Yh6
LibClamAV debug: cli_mbox returning 0
LibClamAV debug: Recognized ZIP file
LibClamAV debug: in scanzip()
LibClamAV debug: Zip: citactNL.tra, compressed: 12062, normal: 533115,
ratio: 44 (max: 200)
LibClamAV debug: Zip: Can't open file citactNL.tra
/tataooine/yannick/btfilter/../1099997121359: OK

=> the content of the zip file is not scanned. but the exit code is 0

Any Help ?

Yannick Le Briquer.
