Whenever I re-boot, clamd starts, but clamav-milter refuses. The error I get is:-

| Can't talk to clamd server via /tmp/clamd/clamd.sock

What is the mode of the directory "/tmp/clamd"? Post the output of this command "ls -la /tmp/clamd"

Found the answer - /var/tmp was symlinked to /home/tmp which happened to be owned by user other than root. When changed to clamav, both clamd and clamav-milter start without any trouble.
