Could it be that when a virus is hidden in a file named
.filename, then clamd cannot detect it?

When I saved the attachment  to .zip and ran clamdscan on it, it was
reported to contain Worm.Mydoom.I.

When you open this mail in mutt and use 'v' to view the attachments,
this is what you see:
