Your problem is that you have a space at the start of this line:LocalSocket /var/run/clamav/clamd.sock

I deleated the extra space. Now I have; Parse error at line 71. Unknown options or default. Can't open/parse the config file /etc/clamd.conf/
I did a file search for clamd.sock and the result came up no file.
I am running Fedora Core 3, and installed clamav and clamd using
synaptic from dag wieers rpm site. Do you think I should start over and
try to reinstall?
I can't help you with RPMs from 3rd parties. Either have a word with the
packager
or install an official version from www.clamav.net.
Maybe the packager is on this list and can help.
Well, thank you very much for your time and trouble. I'll keep plugging away at it.
Sorry if what I said sounded negative, it's just that I don't know what the
people at dag wieers could have done. Since, to the best of my knowledge,
they haven't approached anyone else in the clamAV team either I'd be
2nd guessing what they've done.
You could try sending me an e-mail directly attaching you clamd.conf and
I'll see what's wrong. Cut 'n' pasting in an email body is never a good idea
for something like this, I'm afraid...
