No, it isn't. By default errors are still being written to stderr.

Check again, this simple test:

$ clamdscan -v /tmp/test 1> clamdscan.stdout 2> clamdscan.stderr
produces this:
$ ll clamdscan.*
-rw-r--r--  1 rberber None   0 Jan 28 23:19 clamdscan.stderr
-rw-r--r--  1 rberber None 258 Jan 28 23:19 clamdscan.stdout

Nothing is sent to stderr!
