I don't see it as irrelevant as you do. The web page it's the face to people that don't know about the product. Maybe I don't feel what your talking about because I have a 17" monitor with a resolution of at least 1024x768, but people on 800x600 could have problem noticing that the page actually changed (without the #pagestart anchor).
