ClamAV has shifted from being an antivirus into a general malware detector with emphasis on detecting emailed malware. It's not a general antivirus, from what I can tell. Just another layer of defense. While the ClamAV team has done a great job at keeping up with the deluge of email trojan crap out there, good luck catching all malware out there...
