I'm not sure that it's a new version of zlib, exactly, especially since the problem and the fix seem to be OS-specific. If you have FreeBSD 5.3 or 5.4, there are explicit instructions for what to do here: ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/CERT/advisories/FreeBSD-SA-05:16.zlib.asc (Just throw that into your favorite browser.) You should also probably sign up to the FreeBSD security mailing list, which will bother you every few months with little patches like this. Sometimes they will apply to you, sometimes not. If you don't have FreeBSD 5.3 or 5.4, I don't think this most recent problem affects you. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
