Hi

I have googled but not found any article that explains what the directory
clamav-partial is doing in /tmp

It is used to catch viruses split using section 7.3.2 of RFC1341.

the list archive search reviles i can delete it after 24 hours or re-compile
but i am using rpm's and yum i cannot re-comp.

"cannot"? Just use yum to install a c compiler and you're away.

so do i just delete the directory or do i have an underling problem.

If you delete it you leave yourself open to viruses using RFC1341.
