Hi,
running ClamAV 0.88.5 on Solaris 9 and Solaris 10. Today I noticed that
on three different systems the freshclam daemon process was gone. After
trying to run freshclam interactively, I found the following (we're in
the db.NL.clamav.net zone):
bash-2.05# /opt/ClamAV/bin/freshclam
ClamAV update process started at Fri Nov 3 12:13:42 2006
main.cvd is up to date (version: 40, sigs: 64138, f-level: 8, builder:
tkojm)
Can't connect to port 80 of host db.nl.clamav.net (IP: 213.222.11.220)
Trying host db.nl.clamav.net (62.133.206.90)...
Broken Pipe
The first IP address is indeed rejecting the connection:
Trying a telnet port 80 to the first system shows:
Using telnet on a web server will introduce errors if you don't use http
protocol commands. And since it's probably a virtual web server, using
the IP rather than the hostname will introduce additional errors (see
http 1.1 headers). Use wget or curl with the hostname instead. In round
robin dns services this can sometimes be difficult and may require you
to create a temporary host table entry on your local system while you're
testing the remote server.
