FreeBSD 4.x is no longer supported by the port maintainers (or anyone else,
really). Good luck filing a bug against something being broken on 4.x and
having them actually do anything about it.

portinstall should be able to fetch a package and install it without too much
trouble. It's part of the portupgrade management tools.

Ever think about updating to 6.x?

Good luck,

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor
do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger
is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either
a daring adventure, or nothing.
