No full restart necessary. You can signal clamd to reload is signature files by
using either of the following methods:
kill -USR2 xxxx (xxxx = clamd pid)
or, via perl if using a LocalSocket:
perl -MIO::Socket::UNIX -we '$s = IO::Socket::UNIX->new(shift);
$s->print("RELOAD"); print $s->getline; $s->close' /path/to/clamd.sock
