what do you mean without causing any problems? And why do you want to
reinstall proftpd instead of properly configuring it?

mod_clamav apparently can not connect to the clam daemon so provide valid
connection string (unix domain socket or IP:port)...

Which clamav version are you using? If you're using 0.95*, you need
mod_clamav 0.11* since he protocol was changed ...
