I don't know if this issue has already been posted, my apologies for
repeating
if it has,
but I am unable to download the .gz file from the clamav website.
Whenever I try
to do
so, the download appears to complete but I then get an error message
indicating
an
inability to read the source file.
Any ideas? Thanks.

I just tried the download and had no problem getting the file or
decompressing the file.
Are you trying to download the file in a browser? Depending on OS and
browser, this can be fraught with problems.
If you can use a terminal window to do the download, try this link
