DON'T PANIC! Read http://www.clamav.net/support/faq
I read the FAQ and it does not tell me where this setting is set.
It's set by ClamAV within the source code itself; this reflects the
capabilities of that particular version. It's not a configurable setting; to
fix this warning, you need to upgrade to the latest version of ClamAV-- which
you generally should be doing for any security-related software, anyway.
So, the fedora distro people screwed up by setting it to level 44 in the
source code?
WARNING: Clamd was NOT notified: Can't find or parse configuration file
/path/to/clamd.conf
Neither could I. I did a full find starting from /
clamd.conf was not even installed. Where do I find one or how do I
construct one?
If you installed ClamAV from source, it probably will be located at
/usr/local/etc/clamd.conf, although people or package builders might change
--sysconfdir to be /etc/clamd.conf.
I made that already clear - I did not install it from source.
I installed fedora packages from fedora repos. I find it
strange that the packages did not install clamd.conf
Furthermore, I thought if clamav should run a daemon, how about a
start/stop script for it in /etc/init.d ?? so that it can be managed by
the system services? How about providing a default clamd.conf in either
/etc or /etc/sysconfig ???
That's up to the builder of the precompiled package to provide a
system-specific startup script.
In my case (FreeBSD port), that's /usr/local/etc/rc.d/clamav-clamd.
Regards,
So, should I be bringing this up with the fedora team?
Cheers,
JD
