Without having a sample message or log entries, you've not provided sufficient 
information to tell whether there is a problem.  Provide an address and I'll 
bounce a test message your way...

On the other hand, if you don't have root on the box, you can't really be the 
admin of the system by definition-- presumably someone has root access and is 
the one who should maintain it.
